ISDA Launches Notices Hub and Protocol to Streamline Delivery and Receipt of Critical Notices

Introduction

ISDA has introduced the ISDA Notices Hub and the ISDA 2025 Notices Hub Protocol, offering a more efficient method for delivering critical notices, thereby reducing uncertainty and risk of losses from delays. This secure online platform, provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence, facilitates fast delivery and receipt of termination notices and waivers, ensuring address details for physical delivery are updated centrally. The platform is free for buy-side firms, with dealers benefiting from a discounted rate for the first two years.

ISDA 2025 Notices Hub Protocol

The protocol allows firms to update their documentation with other adhering parties to use the ISDA Notices Hub. As of launch, 79 entities from North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific have adhered, including dealers, asset managers, pension funds, and insurance companies. The protocol is free for all market participants.

Addressing Delivery Challenges

Under the ISDA Master Agreement, time-critical termination notices must be delivered by prescribed methods, including physical delivery. Delays can occur if a company has moved and documentation hasn’t been updated, or if delivery is not possible due to a pandemic or geopolitical shock. The ISDA Notices Hub addresses these issues by enabling quick and efficient delivery via a secure online platform.

Benefits of the ISDA Notices Hub

The platform allows for the exchange of waivers, including those for net asset threshold events. Automatic notifications are sent to designated people at the receiving entity, accessible from anywhere globally. The protocol requires participants to update address details in all agreements, creating an up-to-date golden source.

Quotes from Industry Leaders

Scott O’Malia, ISDA’s Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of the platform in ensuring notices are sent instantly and securely, reducing risk and minimizing losses. Brittany Garland from S&P Global Market Intelligence highlighted the platform's role in transforming the delivery of critical notices in the derivatives market.

Conclusion

The ISDA Notices Hub and Protocol represent a significant advancement in the efficient delivery of critical notices, enhancing market efficiency and reducing financial risks associated with delays.
